What is This? It's a Catalog with HUNDREDS of Vision Therapy Success Stories!
What is Vision Therapy?
Who Wrote These Success Stories?
These stories were written and voluntarily submitted by children,
parents, adults and teachers from all over the United States. The
writers were very enthusiastic to share their Vision Therapy stories
and the majority allowed us to publish their names.
Where Can I Find Stories That Relate to My Interests?
The Success Stories have been split up into categories and topic
pages. Each category/topic page begins with short quotations from
selected stories. Click on a quotation to jump down to a full story.
Scroll down to browse through ALL stories (not all stories are
quoted at the top).
We hope that the category/topic pages make it easier for you, the reader, to easily search through
this HUGE catalog of Success Stories. Still, we acknowledge that our sorting method is far from ideal. It was NOT easy for us to decide where
to put each story!
MANY of these stories cross over and cover many categories and
topics. As you read through these pages, you will begin to see the
connections. There is a lot of overlap! Hopefully, you will gain
a sense of how undetected vision problems affect many lives and
in many ways! Take a look at just a few examples below:
Mary visited the
school nurse many times with complaints of blurry, watery
eyes, headaches and stomach aches ... her vision was reported
to be OK [20/20]. ... [Then] examination revealed visual motor problems, double vision, and a condition called convergence insufficiency. Following Vision Therapy, she showed great improvements in reading and spelling ...she no longer calls herself or thinks of herself as 'stupid' and 'the slowest in class.
An adult patient was diagnosed with strabismus (alternating esotropia) as an infant and underwent three surgeries ... she never used her eyes together until Vision Therapy at age 48 ...as a result of prism lenses and vision therapy, she developed (binocular depth perception ...the world began to "pop out."
A pre-teen with convergence
insufficiency has eye
tracking problems, eye
fatigue, motion sickness
and has problems with school and reading. After Vision Therapy, he improves in school to meet grade level standards.
-
A teacher suggests that a child be tested for ADD-ADHD
or Dyslexia, Dyslexic or some other
learning disability.
Thorough testing shows that the child has a previously undetected
vision problem (i.e., convergence
insufficiency or lazy
eye or eye tracking
problems). Vision Therapy is the solution. -
A toddler with strabismus
(an eye turn) is given eye muscle surgery to prevent lazy
eye (amblyopia). After surgery,
she has loss of depth perception
and problems with homework,
writing, and sports.
As a young child she receives Vision Therapy and gains two-eyed
depth perception, improved coordination, and better
grades. An adult typically loses her place while reading
and either falls asleep or has eye
strain or headaches. After Vision Therapy, she reads
with ease for long periods of time AND she also stops bumping into things all the time!
A teenager who was in a car accident has a brain
injury which causes poor eye tracking. Vision Therapy brings improvement where surgery could
not.
That's only the beginning? Thanks to Vision Therapy and the optometrists
who practice it, we're here with over 500 Success Stories and counting.
Take another look at that Table of Contents!
And, if you wish, read my own personal
Success Story. You will see why I've been spreading the word
about Vision Therapy through the Internet since 1996.
Friends, I'm not afraid to say it... two eyes are really better
than one. Yes, life is better in 3D!
All the best and thanks for reading,
